This was an amazing tour, blending wildlife with culture photography. The guides that were chosen in Hokkaido and Kyoto knew their territories well and had a few surprises to keep the days fresh. The instructors, David and Toby, were always ready to pivot and change up the itinerary to fit the group as well as the objectives. Japan as a destination is a wise choice for anyone who is adventurous as well as curious about another culture.

Another great trip with the McKays! I have been to Japan dozens of times (with work and mixed in some sightseeing, etc). But the McKay's agenda blew away my expectations - again. It is the ideal way to travel with a smallish group (12 or so photographers), a well thought out itinerary, focus on seeing the common places - but when few people are there and interesting perspectives of Japan. There is time to do your own thing, and I always learn so much about the history, culture, and of course, improve my photograph skills

Just completed my 4th adventure trip with McKay Photography Tours and once again they hit it out of the ballpark!!! Their attention to every detail is impeccable, I cannot rave enough about the 4 tours I have experienced through them: Mongolia, Tanzania, Peru -Galapagos-the Amazon, and just completed Japan!; I am scheduled for Vietnam and Cambodia next and so looking forward to it!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU WANT THE BEST EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE!!; Teri Watson

It was a great trip! The opportunity to see various parts of Japan - including Hokkaido - and learn about the culture, history , and wildlife was amazing! In addition, we had a great group of participants to travel with and it made the trip even more fun. Our guides were excellent and went out of their way to provide us with an exceptional experience in many different ways- from personal life styles, various transportation modes, to lodging, to traditional Japanese meals - they all shared an incredible insight into Japan! I also loved the photography tips, and assistance from David (and Freddy) to capture best possible images. This was my first international trip with McKay Photography Tours - will be looking forward to the next adventure!

Yellowstone in the winter is pure magic. It is so peaceful with the snow falling and the animals wandering almost in slow motion. I had dreamed of getting a photo of a bison covered in snow....got that within the first hour. Traveling by snow coach allowed us to warm up when we needed to as temperatures were in the teens. Jeff Galinovsky and Paul Anderson were excellent pro photographers guiding us to the right compositions, settings and other tips to make sure we were all successful in getting just the right photos. The snow coach drivers provided historical background....and one of them who was also a photographer knew exacly where to take us to get some stunning landscapes. Seeing a wolf pack was memorable indeed. Then there is Sweeney, our driver to Yellowstone from Bozeman and back. His Wild Bill Hickock persona was wonderful. And Virginia City was the perfect place to photograph him. Wonderful group of fellow photographers as always on McKay trips. I would recommend going to Yellowstone in winter. It was simply stunning
